Trading Scam Artists

In the trading/investing arena, scam artists are a dime a dozen.
As it turns out, it is much easier to get rich quickly by making money off of overpriced and useless services than to try and do it slowly with one's own capital saved and invested over the years.

Core Income Butterfly - a Review

While I have shared and discussed a bunch of free useful tools and websites in the past, I rarely ever write about  premium products out there. In fact, in more than 540 articles that have been published on this site over more than 5 years, only 3 of them, or 0.5% of the total, have recommended premium services/products from third parties.

Financial Products that suck - CFDs

Once you have been writing on a site for a while, it won't be long before institutions, brokers, newsletters, etc start bombarding you with partnership proposals for you to promote their products. Over time, I have received dozens of such proposals and in many cases it has been about products I didn't even know existed. Having this market disease I have, most of the time I end up researching these products, just trying to expand my horizons by learning new things.

HLHB Forex Trend-Catcher System EA

This is a Forex system created by Huck from BabyPips.com, whose trades she updates every week. As BabyPips has hundreds of thousands of readers from all over the world I thought it would be a good idea to fully automate this system and quickly back test it to see what it gives.

tastytrade - an unbiased review

Warning: This post is going to be much larger than usual.

I wrote a review of tastytrade back in April 2013 when I had been watching the show for a few weeks, quite possibly not more than a month. It's only fair to write another one now that the show has evolved and I have had the opportunity to digest much more content and become more familiar with it after two years.

tastytrade has become somewhat controversial. It's like the New York Yankees, with legions of fanatics and tons of haters, but very few people staying neutral. From what I have seen, they have many more lovers than haters, but boy do the haters take it seriously. I want to put the passion aside and be objective on this post in order to write as fair and unbiased a review as possible so that people can make the best out of it without falling into endless unproductive arguments and personal attacks.

Turtle Trading System Automated. Method 2. (Forex Expert Advisor)

The legendary story of the Turtle Trades. Pretty intriguing isn't it? If you don't know about the Turtles and the story behind them, you can read here. My question always was, are the mechanical systems that they used still valid today? Are those systems still profitable? Are they applicable to Forex?

Forex Rebellion doesn't work

If you came to this article it means you probably know about the Forex Rebellion system. It's nothing new. In fact it came out a few years ago. There are certainly several positive reviews out there, many of them by affiliates which doesn't really count (read this article I wrote in 2011 on how to spot affiliate reviews), but there are many other positive reviews by real users. The reviews generally tend to be positive because the system advocates the use of stop losses, protection of profits, letting winners run etc, which I agree are good lessons. But what about real results? Does this trading system make money or not?

TastyTrade - truly changing financial education

Note: This article was written in April 2013 when I had been watching the show for less than a month. For a more in depth review describing and analyzing both good and bad points please visit tastytrade - an unbiased review, my comprehensive article after watching the show for two years.

If you haven't watched an episode of TastyTrade, take your time and take a peek. TastyTrade runs a live show everyday during market hours and they have become something like a permanent radio station I listen to while I work. Because I can't watch the show, as I work in an open office concept, at least I get to listen to the show on my head phones all day long and boy oh boy do they make my day better.

Update: You may also want to read my second review of TastyTrade two years after this first one

New auto-trade platform for Forex traders provided by myfxbook.com

Today, myfxbook announced the release of a new auto trade service where Forex traders can follow other traders' strategies and mimic their trades. According to the article the service looks very promising and seems to really deal with most problems that other similar services have had over the years.

Useful resources for learning about mechanical trading systems

When you get started in the journey of currency trading (specifically the spot Forex markets) you read about all the "benefits" of Forex over any other trading vehicle. Over time, you get to realize that these supposed "benefits" are really a pain in the ass, and that they don't offer any particular edge.

Tips for reviewing Expert Advisors

Yes, we all know the vast majority of them are scams, or don't work in the end. However, successful automated trading is indeed possible with the right proven methods, that use sound trading principles and are backed up by serious statistical studies. One of the most common examples is that of the Turtles of Richard Dennis. Plus, most trading volume nowadays is done by algorithmic trading (I don't have the sources for specific numbers but I've read anywhere from 60 to 80% on the daily volumes on the NYSE).

Why ZuluTrade is a bad idea

If you got to this post via a search engine, you know what ZuluTrade is. If you don't, ZuluTrade is a website that offers a platform for Forex signal providers to broadcast their trading signals so that these are replicated across subscribers' accounts.

Analysis of currency pairs in groups

This is one of the very few things that consistently worked when I was trading Forex during 2010. The Analysis of currencies in groups also known as Parallel and Inverse analysis of currency pairs is the technique that analyses a currency's strength or weakness based on the behavior of the pairs where that specific currency is involved.

Didn't get it? No problem, let's go with examples.

BookingAlpha & OptionAlpha. A breath of fresh air.

Update June 1, 2013: The original article was written in January 2012. 18 months later I don't recommend BookingAlpha's service anymore. I still praise them for their transparency but some risk mismanagement has led them to very poor results almost from the very moment this review was initially written.

Today I want to talk about two newsletters that offer alerts and education to trade options in the US markets: BookingAlpha and OptionAlpha. I have been a subscriber of both newsletters for a while now, keeping them both in order to get their insights and learn from them as much as possible.

Forex Cash Cow. Review and Expert Advisor

This is another let's say popular system that Forex retail traders read about at least once in their lifes. I had the chance to know it and being a programmer myself, of course I went ahead and implemented it to see what it really gave before risking a dime of my real money account.

The idea of the system is to ride price momentum right after a price "explosion" has occurred in one direction. This puts the strategy in the group of "Break out" strategies if you will. And it is best suited for the GBPUSD pair.

GPS Forex robot team lies

This is a follow up on my previous article which you can find here.

On Monday May 9 there was a sell off in the EURUSD pair late in the day. Given that GPS only goes long EUR it had a hard time and lost its trade miserably, -88 pips. The entry was at about 1.4375 a few seconds after 7pm Eastern Time.

The Truth about the GPS Forex Robot.

Mark Larsen apparently gained some popularity as a "clean guy", "a fresh image in the forex industry", "a transparent no BS approach kind of guy". Mainly by giving away free stuffs like reviews and tips for trading the forex markets, plus some explanations here and there of basic forex strategies. And, that was good, maybe even easy in an industry so full of lies and shit. But it was even better for his pockets when later on he came out with the GPS Forex robot invention which saw the light in December 2010. Easy sale, provided he had proven to the world he was a "different guy".

How to spot paid/affiliate reviews

In view that paid reviews and affiliates are the origin of so many lies and scams nowadays, in this article I pretend to show you how to know if a product or service review is being written by an affiliate or not. Now, I'm not implying that all paid or affiliate reviews are fakes, I just think you should read them very warily and always being aware of its nature.
